13 vocational institutes in Balochistan planned
By The News InternationalISLAMABAD: National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) has started making necessary arrangements to establish 13 new vocational training institutes in the same number of tehsils of Balochistan under the President’s Funni Maharat Programme at a total cost of Rs156.24 million.
NAVTEC Chairman Adnan A Khawaja stated this while talking to Balochistan Minister for Quality Education Jan Ali Changezi at his office at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat on Monday. He said that the tehsils selected for setting up vocational institutes in Balochistan are Naukundi, Dalbandin, Kahan, Mewand, Gandakha, Jhal Magsi, Gandawa, Bhag, Dhadar, Duki, Musakhel, Drug and Barkhan.
Khawaja said for successful completion of the project, TEVTA (Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority) of Balochistan is required to be activated immediately. Underlining various measures taken by National Vocational and Technical Education Commission to impart technical and vocational training to the youth of Balochistan, Khawaja said the federal government, under the directives of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, was paying special attention to improving the living standard of the people of the province and bring it on a par with other provinces.
He assured the minister that technically trained youth of Balochistan would be given priority in filling vacant positions in various public and private concerns not only in the country but also in meeting the demand, received from time to time, from Arab and other foreign countries.
