200 foreign prisoners in Balochistan jails

DERA MURAD JAMALI Nov 23 (PPI): There are more than 200 foreign [prisoners lodged in Balochistan jails. Of these number of Afghan refugees is the biggest. This was stated by Inspector General Prisons Balochistan Qambar Dashti while speaking with Correspondents during his visit to District jail here Monday. IG Prisons said that more than one dozen prisoners from Sweden, Tajikistan, Bangladesh and other countries have been handed over to diplomats of their respective countries after completion of formalities. He said Rupees 242 million have been spent for improving jails situation and welfare of prisoners in the province while recommendations have been made for construction of seven jail wards for providing health facilities to the prisoners. These jails are, Dera Murad Jamali, Hub, Sibi, Loralai, Zhob, Noshki and Khuzdar. He said steps were being taken to provide facilities to the prisoners under jail manual. Answering a question, he said problems of jail employees are much more because of lack of resources. However dispute meager resources efforts were underway to resolve these problems. He said prisoners are more than capacity at Mach jail whose problem would be resolved soon.
