Alam, Zuljannah procession held under tight security
QUETTA, Dec 25: The Alam and Zuljannah procession of Muharram 7th was brought out peacefully in the provincial capital amid tight security to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions for their sacrifices for Islam.
A heavy police and other law enforcement agencies contingents had been deployed on the route and at the rooftops of the surrounding buildings. There were a large number of policemen on the roads leading to the procession route.
Before the procession began, police officials checked the route for security and all important shopping centers of Liaqat Bazaar, Abdul Sattar Road , Orchar Road and Prince Road remained closed from morning till evening because of procession as all the routes of procession were completely sealed off.
The main procession of Zuljinnah and Taazia was brought out from Imambargha Kalan, from Meconghi Road. The procession was led by President Shia Conference Ashraf Zehdi and other Shia leaders and scholars.
The procession after marching through Prince Road, Art School Road and Archer Road Liaquet Bazaar culminated at Imambargha Nasir Al-Aziz.
Earlier, participants of procession staged a sit-in at Junction Chowk protesting against arrest of four volunteers by police.
President Shia Conference accused police for arresting four volunteers without any justification and said that they were holding licensed weapons.
Police officials said that thousands of personnel of law enforcement agencies had been deployed for the security during procession and the participants of procession would not be allowed to carry out weapons during procession.
Later on, they called off their sit-in after police released all four volunteers.
