Another woman honor-killed in DMJ along with alleged lover

QUETTA: In what appeared to be a case of honor killing, a man gunned down his sister and her alleged paramour in Dera Murad Jamali on Thursday.

According to details, accused Nazar Muhammad resident of Gott Essa Khan Umrani in Dera Murad Jamali, suspected that his sister had illicit relations with his cousin Muhammad Hayat. He shot both of them dead and fled after committing the crime.

Police shifted the bodies to hospital for autopsy and handed them over to heirs after completing legal formalities.

Later on, police arrested accused Nazar Muhammad and started investigations.

Balochistan’s areas bordering Sindh are notorious for having the largest number of killing of women on the name of honor. Men mainly kill women on suspicion of having illegitimate contacts with other men.

Balochistan’s Naseerabad district came in limelight after the news of alleged burial of five women on the name of honor was raised reported last year. There was a hue and cry across the country over the alleged burial of five women on the name of honor by some tribal influential people hailing from the families of the murdered girls. Though judicial inquiry was conducted into the matter, the culprits of the case have not been brought to justice nor has truth been debunked in the whole case.
