BHC appoints commissioners to monitor encroachments

bhcQUETTA: Dec 09: A division bench of Balochistan High Court on Wednesday appointed commissioners to monitor various matters including encroachment on pavements, plantation, remove wall chalking and keep roads, drains and pavements clean.

The Bench which was headed by Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Justice Qazi Faez Essa was hearing a petition filed by Talat Waheed Khan Advocate.

Under the orders of the court Muhammad Asif Reki and Nadir Ali Chalgari would monitor Sariab, Sabzal and Spiny Roads, Wais Khan and Shah Jahan Achakzai would look after Arbab Karam Khan and Samungli Roads, Dawood Khan Kasi and Abdul Ghani Khilji would oversee the matters at Kasi and Khudai Dad Road, Zaffar Bazai and Sattar Kakar would monitor Main Airport and Zarghoon Roads while Pervaiz Zahoor and Sahibzada Muhammad Nasim would oversee Jinnah Road and Shahra e Iqbal.

During the hearing, the Deputy Conservator Forest, Muhammad Iqbal stated that as per the orders of the court the forest department had launched environment awareness classes in schools.

He further said that a large number of Quetta schools had sought some 2760 saplings which would be planted during next plantation season.

The court also directed the forest department to confiscate the trees which are cut for one or other reasons and vigilantly prosecute the law breakers.

The Bench directed issuance of notices to all concerned officials including SSP traffic, Chairman Regional Transport Authority, Commissioner Quetta Division and District Coordination Officer to submit a detailed report about the measures taken for car parking along roads in the city.

The court also ordered the authorities to remove encroachments from the pavements and ensure that no pavement or roads is encroached upon.

In his petition, Talat Waheed also prayed to the court that food items including meat are displayed outside the shops on pavements and on carts without any covering which attract flied and can cause dangerous diseases.

The court ordered all the concerned authorities to look into the matter and intimate the court as to which department was responsible to ensure that food items are not sold in this manner.

The hearing was adjourned to December 21.
