BRP observes complete shutter down strike in Noshki

NOSHKI:  A complete shutter down strike was observed in Noshki district the other day to protest against the arrest of Baloch leaders, removal of posters of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti by the security forces and unabated cases of enforced disappearances across Balochistan.

The call for the shutter down was given by the Baloch Republican Party and it was widely and positively responded by people from all segments of society. The Purpose of the strike call was to lodge a complaint against the removal of posters of Baloch leaders including that of Mohammad Akbar Khan Bugti, Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti, allegedly by the security forces. It was intended to condemn the arrest of leaders and activists of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP).

Due to the strike call, the entire district remained completely shut and life remained totally paralyzed. All shops, business centers, banks and public and private  institutions remained completely shut throughout the day. Traffic on the roads of Noshki district remained very thin as people stayed inside their homes to make the strike call successful. Activists of the BRO also kept on monitoring the area to make sure that no trouble was caused during the strike call.

Activists of the BRP also chanted slogans against the government and its policies. They expressed their full confidence in the leadership of their party chief Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti and pledged to stand with him through thick and thin.

Police and the Frontier Corps (FC) teams patrolled the area throughout the day in order to ensure a peaceful passage of the shutter down strike. They also maintained law and order in the area on the eve of the strike call.

Mir Pasand Khan Mandhai, the district organizer of the BRP, told the Baloch Hal that the government was narrowing the land for the supporters of Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti. Despite all pressure from the government, the people of Noshki positively responded to the strike call.

“The government and the government-backed Nawab of Bugti tribe are carrying out an operation in Dera Bugti and targeting the supporters of Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti,” he said.
