NASEERABAD: Balochistan Police, while distributing checques among the families of 20 police officers and personnel who were killed in Chathar area a few months ago, said tribal setup in the province was causing serious problems in maintaining law and order in the province.

Cheques of Rs. One million each were distributed among the families of slain deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Mohammad Ali Khosa, sub-house officer  Ehsan Ali Khosa and the 20 other policemen who were kidnapped and killed by the Baloch Republican Army (BRA).

The cheque distribution ceremony was attended by Deputy Inspector General (DIG)  Sibi-Naseerabad Range, District Police Officers Saadullah Khatran,  Shahbaz Khan, Syed Junaid Shah, Syed Farid Shah and several other top police officials.

Speaking on the occasion, DIG Ghulam Shabir Shah termed the Chathar incident as the blackest episode in the history of Balochistan police when around 20 policemen were kidnapped during their duty and subsequently killed. He said the police had issued a list of 25 suspected criminals required by the police in the murder of the policemen. Officials in the police department has been instructed to hunt these crimes alive or dead as a bounty of Rs. One million has been fixed on the head of every suspect mentioned in the list of 25.

He appealed to the local people to cooperate with the local police to arrest the criminals and added that Balochistan’s tribal set-up was making it very hard for the police to operate effectively. The police department has been equipped with modern equipment and improved facilities to grapple with the mounting challenge of lawlessness.

“ Police will operate against all criminals without any fear and discrimination,” he said.

He paid rich tributes to the police officers who lost their lives in Chathar kidnapping saga.
