QUETTA, Dec 2: Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, a great proponent of Baloch-Pashtun unity and brotherhood and a leading Pashtun nationalist leader, was remembered here in a seminar on Wednesday on eve of his 36th death anniversary by the members of Pashtunkhawa Milli Awami Party.

Speakers including Secretary General Akram Shah, Rauf Khan, Dr Kaleemullah, Osman Kakar and others paid rich tributes to Abdul Samad Achakzai and said that he had played significant role for the independence of this region by forcing the British rulers to quit the area and give the natives the control over their land.

They said that those who supported terrorism in the past were raising voice for elimination of terrorism today while Achakzai had always preached peaceful democratic struggle throughout his life.

PkMP leaders demanded that all nationalities living inside the federation of Pakistan, including the Pashtuns, should be given complete rights. There should be separate province for the Pashtoons. Pashtoons living in Balochistan should be given equal rights and constitutional guarantee in this regard. They said we wanted complete and true democracy in the country.

Condolence meetings and ceremonies were held in Chaman and other parts of the province on eve of 36th death anniversary of Samad Achakzai, who was the father of leading Pashtun nationalist leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
