Gas pipeline blown up; police vans damaged in Quetta

QUETTA, Dec 15: A 16- inch diameter gas pipeline was blown up in Dera Bugti on Tuesday while two vehicles of police training damaged during a remote controlled bomb attack.

According to sources, unidentified people had fitted explosive material with a 16- inch diameter gas pipeline supplying gas to Loti Gas Filed in Zain Koh area.   The blast badly damaged pipeline and suspended gas supply to the purification plant.

Police said that it had registered a case and started a search in the area for arrest of accused persons.

Spokesman of Baloch Republican Party (BRA) Sarbaaz Baloch claimed the responsibility for the blowing up of gas pipeline.

In another incident, two vehicles of police training centre damaged in remote controlled bomb blast in Quetta.

Police sources said that the explosives were planted on a cycle which was parked at Sariab Road.  When two vehicles of police training centre reached near bicycle explosives went off with a big bang. Luckily, no loss of life occurred in the blast, however, blast caused partial damages to vehicles.

Sources said that the blast was carried out by a remote controlled device and the target was vehicles of police training centre.  Soon after the incident police and personnel of Frontier Corps reached the site and cordoned off the area.

The spokesman of Baloch Liberation United Front (BLUF) introducing himself as Shyhaq Baloch accepted responsibility for the attack.

Moreover, unknown assailants torched two tankers supplying fuel to NATO forces in Afghanistan.

Official sources said that two NATO containers were en route to Kabul. Vehicles were parked at western bypass when unknown persons set ablaze both tankers.

Sources said that police was trying to locate the drivers and cleaners of oil tankers.

Meanwhile, an explosive device kept inside a dustbin at Brewery Road exploded with huge explosion. However, no loss of life was reported in the blast.
