LPP congress in Balochistan on Dec 8

laborQUETTA: Labour Party Pakistan (LPP) will hold its first one-day congress in Jaffar Abad, Baluchistan on 8 December 2009. Comrades from different districts will participate in this event that will elect a 21 member Baluchsitan LPP committee. The congress agenda include discussion on Pakistan perspective, the national struggle in Baluchistan and our views, LPP organizational priorities and elections of the new committee.

The congress is the result of the several years of the LPP work in the province in trade unions, social movement and youth in particular. The first national two days meeting was held in 2007 in Quetta. Comrade Asim Akhund and Nasir Mansoor, Executive Committee members of LPP participated in the meeting and the meeting elected a committee to look after the LPP affairs in the province.

The meeting is taking place at a time when in Baluchistan, national struggle is at its peak and many Baluch nationalist are demanding an independent Baluchistan. An unannounced military operation is carried out by Pakistan state and many thousands of activists are missing, mainly kidnapped by the state agencies.  The PPP government announcement of a Baluchistan Package is not been welcomed by many parties in the province. The PPP led provincial government is loosing its control of many areas in Baluchsitan while the American imperialism is announcing all the time that Baluchistan is the house of many Alqaida leaders. This is a pretext to attack Baluchistan in future by Obama administration.

In this very complex situation, several hundreds have joined LPP in the province will be holding their first congress on 8 December 2009. (PR)
