“Missing persons” have gone “underground: Chief Minister Raisani

KHUZDAR: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has said it is unreasonable to hold the state intelligence agencies responsible for whisking away the missing persons who may have deliberately gone ‘underground’ to defame the state-controlled intelligence services.

Talking to journalists in Khuzdar during his trip to the district, CM Raisani said most nationalist parties had not even read the recommendations of the recently announced Balochistan package and rejected it without knowing much about its contents.  The claim about missing persons is intended to defame the state intelligence agencies.

” Maybe the missing persons have gone underground themselves and they are now being declared by their families as missing persons,” he said,” a committee headed by a Supreme Court judge will probe the cases of the missing persons.”

Raisani once again criticized the elements responsible for target killings in Balochistan by saying they could not be the friends of Baloch nation but people who wanted to tarnish the image of Baloch people. According to the CM, target killers were causing maximum loss to the Baloch movement and they had made it difficult for the government to get teachers who are willing to serve in Balochistan.

“Nationalists are our brothers and we respect them,” he said, adding that missing persons case was being exploited by some people who sent their own persons underground and then held the intelligence agencies responsible for it.

Raisani promised to reopen the Khuzdar Airport after raising the issue with the federal government in Khuzdar. The airport in Khuzdar has remained shut for the past twenty years, local citizens said.
