Scanners, Additional security personnel for Quetta Press Club soon: DCO

QUETTA: District Coordination Officer Quetta Abdul Saboor Kakar on Thursday visited the Quetta Press Club and said that the government would take concrete steps in order to provide adequate security to the Press Club and media persons.

During the visit, the General Secretary QPC, senior journalist Abdul Rehman Axakzai briefed the DCO and other officials about the security concerns and proposed various measures for the security of the Club.

Underlining the importance of the media, the DCO assured that the district government would make proper arrangements including imposition of section 144 in front of the Club, installation of scanners, deployment of additional personnel of the police and special branch and allotting a separate place for demonstrations and political gatherings.

It is worth mentioning that a delegation of media persons led by the President Quetta Press Club, senior journalist Rasheed Baig met the DCO the other day and informed him about the poor security arrangements around the Press Club.
