Balochistan Assembly condemns target killings of Baloch in Karachi

QUETTA, Jan 12: Recent incidents of target killing Karachi dominated the session of Balochistan Assembly (BA) on Tuesday. Many members of Balochistan Assembly strongly protested over incidents in Karachi and they termed them as target killing of Baloch people in Lyari.

This matter came in the house for debate when Asad Baloch rose on a point of order and said that action had been started in Karachi against Baloch people. He demanded that Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik should be stopped from action against Balochs in Karachi.

Balochistan’s Fisheries Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi on a point of order condemned the killing of Balochs in Karachi and termed it a conspiracy against Baloch people.

“The voice of Baloch people is being suppressed by forces in Karachi and the innocent Baloch youth, children and women are being targeted”, he added.

Zahoor Baloch regretted and said that people were being brutally targeted in broad daylight but the federal government had kept a criminal silence over it. He staged a token walkout from the House to record his protest against alleged target killings of Balochs in Karachi.

Member of Provincial Assembly, Ali Madad Jattak also condemned the killing of Balochs in Karachi, saying a linguistic group is behind the murders of Balochs and PPP workers in Karachi.

He said that earlier, the same group had targeted Pashtoons and now it was killing innocent Baloch people and resolved that they would not keep silence over killing of Balochs. Jattak announced boycott of the session and left the House.

Habib-ur-Rehman Muhammad Hassani demanded of Chief Minister Sindh for taking action against perpetrators and ensure security of Baloch people in Karachi.

Gazala Golla said that Balochs were being forced to quit Karachi and an operation was carried out against children and women. She demanded for immediate arrest of culprits.

Other Provincial Ministers and MPAs including Nasreen Kethran and Captain (r) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai said earlier a minister of Balochistan was killed in Karachi. They said that earlier Pashtoons were killed in Karachi and now Balochs were being targeted.

They recommended for moving a resolution in Balochistan Assembly to condemn the killing of Baloch people in Karachi.

Earlier, the members of the House offered fateha for the departed souls of mother of Balochistan governor Nawab Zulfiqar Magsi and Baloch victims of target killing in Karachi
