Balochistan package a joke: Sardar Attaullah Mengal

The Baloch Hal News
KHUZDAR:
Veteran Baloch nationalist leader and Balochistan’s first ever elected chief minister Sardar Attaullah Mengal has said Balochistan is currently going through turmoil and the leadership has gone in the hands of young Balochs who make the future scenario very optimistic.

Mengal said he had retired from politics now and the leadership of Baloch nation had gone in the hands of the young people. The Baloch nation is going through a crisis at the moment but one does not have to be disappointed over the pace of developments.

He was talking to journalists after his meeting with Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani in his native town of Wadh in Khuzdar district.

Mengal said he had quit politics now and wished the young Baloch leaders and the Baloch nation all the best in the current turbulent times.

“Pakistan is in the brink of anarchy. No body knows what is happening in the country. Irresponsibility has reached its peak,” he said.

When the former chief minister of Balochistan was asked about President Asif Ali Zardari’s complaint that he was being dislodged due to his alleged crime of giving the rights of Baloch people, he retorted that if the President of a country said he was ‘victim’ then who else could be termed as a tyrant?

He said the Balochistan Package, which was recently announced by Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, was a mere joke with the Baloch people. Now even the Balochs ask the federal government to forgive them and stop cheating them any more.

Replying to a question about his meeting with Balochistan chief minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani at his residence, Mengal said Raisani had called on him as a tribal chief, not as the chief minister of Balochistan. He said he was happy when Raisani came to see him and inquired about his health.

” I am glad that he had come to inquire about my health and no other political agenda,” he said.

When asked what message he had for the younger generation of the Balochs, the veteran nationalist leader said there was no doubt that the situation was currently a bit depressing but there was no need for the youth to panic. By virtue of the prayers of their ancestors, the young Balochs will one day see the dawn of a prosperous future. He said he prayed for the unity of the Baloch nation.

I can understand the frustration of a senior leader and his concern of the wefare of Balochistan province. I would like call him the veteran leader of Pakistan and wish him long life and better health. People like should have a better position on national level. One of my late uncle, a I.G. police had opportunity working with him and although not agreed but has always used good words for him. I had the opportunity listening Sardar Mengal’s address to young Baloch at the university of Khuzdar. He has a lot of complaints from Islamabad but was brave enough to guide young generation with a positive and constructive approach towards life. The national leadership and Pakistan Army should consult this great Baloch leader for the development of Balochistan.
