Balochistan’s hospitals have capacity of 4278 beds: DG Health

QUETTA: Director General Health Balochistan Amanullah Kakar has said that 1355 government hospitals and health centers of Balochistan including four major ones in the provincial capital have capacity for 4278 beds.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, he said in the province, there are functioning four major hospitals, 27 district headquarters hospitals, 11 civil hospitals, 79 rural health centers, 554 basic health units, 555 civil dispensaries, 89 mother and child health centers, 23 TB centers and 13 others.

He maintained in those hospitals and health centers, 326 professor doctors, 281 specialist doctors, 2600 general doctors, 1250 trained nurses, 2095 dispensers and technicians, 212 midwives and 1059 vaccinators were providing their services to patients.

He noted Health Departments’ teams remained alert to deal with any emergency regarding spread of epidemic in any area of the province.

He said the department wanted to enhance number of beds in the hospitals in order to facilitate patients. He said although there were shortage of funds but the provincial government was making its best efforts to provide health facilities to masses.
