By Malik Siraj Akbar

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani on Thursday ordered a judicial inquiry into the killing of two activists of Baloch Students Organization (BSO) after the Frontier Corps (FC) allegedly opened fire on a political rally that was meant to protest the killing of Balochs in Karachi.

According to a spokesperson of the Balochistan government, Nawab Raisani has taken exception of what he billed as “the unfortunate incident” which took place in Khuzdar city on 15th and killed two persons.

“The Chief Minister has ordered a judicial inquiry and desired that the inquiry be conducted by the Honourable Chief Justice and two senior judges of the High Court of Balochistan. The Government of Balochistan has made a formal request to the Registrar, Balochistan High Court here Thursday requesting to furnish findings of the incident for perusal/orders of the Chief Minister within shortest possible period,” said the spokesman.

The killing of two Baloch activists received wide-ranging condemnation by the Baloch nationalist parties. While Baloch nationalists held the Frontier Corps responsible for opening fire on the public rally in Khuzdar, the FC, on its part, said it was not deployed at all during the public rally and the charges were “baseless”.

Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani startled everyone when he said on Wednesday that the FC was running a parallel government in the province which was causing problems in the implementation of the Balochistan package. He complained that the FC was not under the control of the provincial government and its actions were derailing the process of reconciliation in the province.
