QUETTA: An election tribunal declared on Monday former Balochistan governor and corps commander General ® Abdul Qadir Baloch, now a leader of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Nawaz), successful on a National Assembly seat from NA-271 after issuing a much-awaited verdict on the controversial electoral results of general elections of February 2007.
According to the details, former Balochistan governor and Corps Commander Abdul Qadir Baloch has been declared victorious by an election tribunal, headed by Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mengal, for the seat of the National Assembly from NA-271. His rival Ehsan Rekhi of the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam), who served as an MNA since the elections in February 2008, has been declared null and void on the seat.
The election tribunal said Qadir had a lead of nine hundred votes against his rival candidate.
Though General Qadir had been initially declared successful in the unofficial results, he was surprisingly denied the victory by some forces in the government and the results were altered overnight. As a result Qadir decided to approach the courts to contest the election results. In the meanwhile, his opponent Ehsan Rekhi enjoyed the membership of the National Assembly on the same seat.
Qadir recently announced to join the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) along with prominent Baloch tribal leader Sardar Sanaullah Zehri during the visit of former prime minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif.

Yes General Sahib ultimately won because he ultimately played his cards very sagaciously by joining the forces who are obviously known to be God blessed, always, in this country. He had won the seat from the very first day but was denied victory by the very same forces. Now he is IN. Im very much optimistic that General Sahib still talks of Baloch Nationalism!
