Govt is making efforts for improvement of education in Balochistan: Tahir Mehmood

QUETTA, Jan 11: Balochistan’s Education Minister Tahir Mehmood Khan Monday said that provincial government was making efforts to improve the condition of  libraries and take action against ghost schools in the province.

Talking to newsmen here at Art Council Balochistan after inaugurating a book fare, he said that Balochistan government was serious to remove illiteracy from the province.

He informed that more funds had been allocated for improvement of education in Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan Package.

Education Minister said that he would follow the footprints of his slain brother Shafiq Ahmed Khan who had played a significant role for the improvement and provision of quality education in the province.

Responding to a question, he said that government was taking practical steps to ensure quality education in all private educational institutes. “Action will be taken against those private schools which are not fulfilling required standard and their registration will also be cancelled”, he warned.

Tahir Mehmood Khan told that schools in Ziarat were affected due to severe earthquake in 2008 and these would be reopened in March.

To another query, he said that Sandeman Library Quetta would be made functional so that students and other people could use it for study.

He said that after thorough review of the situation action would be taken against all ghost schools operating in the province. He also appreciated Art Council for organizing book fare.
