Mere promises unlikely to resolve Balochistan issue: Altaf Hussain

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday said that commitments and announcements were not the solution of Balochistan situation.

He was addressing a gathering of Baloch notables via telephone from London at Lal Qila Ground, Azizabad here on Tuesday.

Altaf Hussain recalled that his party had also raised voice for the rights of Balochistan people, during the tenure of previous government.

He said the MQM had also finalised all arrangements to send a fact finding mission to Balochistan to observe the true situation there but unfortunatly the plan had failed to succeed.

The MQM Chief also called for giving a patient hearing to the people of Balochistan.

Altaf Hussain was of the view that the people of Balochistan have right on the Balochistan province and same is needed to be accepted.

He said his party has always raised voice for protection of the due rights of Baloch people, but some elements attempted to create differences between the ‘Baloch Awam’ and his party, for their ulterior motives.

He raised a question that who is unaware of the years-old Lyari gangs war and said even the residents of Lyari also face difficulties due to the gangs war.

Altaf Hussain said every community has some bad and good members but it does not mean that the whole community is faulty.
