PPP-PML confrontation detrimental to democracy: Nawab Raisani
QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani has said that the present stalemated relations between two major political parties of the country were detrimental to the nascent democratic setup and equally adding more miseries to the people. He maintained that the ongoing tussle between Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League (N) was not welcomed by the masses and other political parties with passion for democracy.
According to a government spokesman who talked to the chief minister on telephone from Islamabad Friday evening, Nawab Raisani said that the grave political, economic and general law and order conditions demand that all the saner elements should sit together and make concerted efforts to bring the country from brink of chaos and uncertainty. The Chief Minister Balochistan who had played a vital role in the past in bringing the two main political parties closer in the wake of judiciary crisis told this scribe that he would visit Lahore today (Saturday) to meet the Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif to discuss with him the pressing issues including political empowerment to the federating units, national questions, energy, food and water crises etc.
Nawab Raisani maintained that the country was in a state of internal strife over the past 62 years and in the existing global scenario could not further withstand any adventurism.
He maintained that all the four federating units should opt for the 1940 Resolution that holds the panacea of all of our ills.
Responding to a question he said that few political parties sitting outside the Parliament having no mandate are making hue and cry against his coalition government but, he added, the masses have more sharp memories to understand such rhetoric.
