Raisani calls for halt to media trial of President Zardari

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has called for an immediate halt to the uncalled for media trial of the President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, by the vested interests.

Addressing a big public meeting here on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony of Vindar Dam on Friday afternoon, the Chief Minister said that the President remained in prison for 11 long years and his captor could not prove any case against him in any court of law for such a long period.

He said that the government of the day could not prove a single allegation against President Asif Ali Zardari. Now certain vested interests in the media had started his media trial. He called for an immediate end to the senseless media trial of the popularly elected President of Pakistan. Nawab Raisani said that the Government did not believe in politics of confrontation. “We want to end the confrontation started by the military dictators,” the Chief Minister told his audience in simple and plain words.

Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani said that the process of complete provincial autonomy had started with the signing of the NFC Award. He said he would continue his struggle till achieving complete provincial autonomy.

The Chief Minister congratulated the people of Balochistan saying that on the eve of new year, foundation stone of the Vindar Dam had been laid by the President of Pakistan. He said there would be eight major dams and 200 small dams in Balochistan in near future augmenting water resources of the province for the benefit of the people.

He hoped that Balochistan would be a food surplus province following completion of water storage dam facilities. He said that we would export primary products to the regional markets after achieving food autarky.

The Chief Minister welcomed the new NFC Award saying that the share of Balochistan had been increased from 5.41 per cent to 9.1 per cent in the new award, an increase of almost four percent in revenue receipts. He said that former President General ® Pervez Musharraf could not bring an agreed and consensus NFC Award during his 9-year arbitrary rule. It caused great damage to the province and the people of Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani told his audience. He thanked the Chief Ministers of three provinces and the Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin who headed the National Finance Commission.

Chief Minister deplored that he had worked hard and sought release of those people from custody are now involved in slander holding demonstrations outside the Press Club.

He said that chairmanship of the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) had been given to Balochistan. He said that certain people merely believed in slogan mongering while he believed in total service to the people of Balochistan.

Nawab Raisani said that his Government had abrogated the agreement on Reko Dik Copper and Gold Project and it intends to exploit the resources in the public sector, mainly by the Provincial Government.

He said he wanted to open new vistas for development all along the 1200 kilometers long coastal region of Balochistan. “I am on trial before the people’s court,” the Chief Minister of Balochistan concluded.
