Urgent Appeal for hospitalized Baloch journalist
A senior Baloch journalist, Irshad Masthoi, while covering the NFC singing ceremony in Gwadar earlier this week, was badly electrocuted. As a result, he received very serious injuries on his face and legs. He has been hospitalized in Karachi but desperately needs timely medical treatment.
Doctors have warned that they will have to cut one of his hands if timely medical assistance is not provided. His family is reluctant to make a public appeal for donation but it is certain that the hospitalized fellow journalist urgently needs financial help for his treatment.
We would like to humbly request the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), RSF and all individuals who are in a position to immediately help to reach for Irshad’s treatment .
Irsahd has had a significant role in highlighting the problems of Balochistan in leading national newspapers and magazines. He regularly wrote about the problems of Balochistan in the Lahore-based popular Urdu weekly, Hum Shehri, Daily Mashriq and Intekhab in Quetta. He has extensively covered Balochistan’s politics and interviewed prominent leaders from Balochistan.
The Baloch Hal team prays for recovery of Irshad Masthoi and requests all the people who are in a position to donate for his medical treatment.
