Lecturers in Gwadar boycott girls’ classes on payment issue

GWADAR: Lecturers in Government Degree College Gwadar have gone on boycott of girls’ afternoon classes after not being paid wages for the seven consecutive months.

According to the details, the academic studies of around five hundred girls in Gwadar have been endangered after the decision of several college lecturers to stop teaching students due to non-payment for their services the afternoon classes.

Since there is no college for girls in Gwadar, the female students are required to take classes in the afternoon shift at the boy’s college. However, the teachers gone on a boycott of the classes after the government did not meet their ultimatum on February 2 to pay them the wages.

The female students at the college have appealed to the government of Balochistan to take notice of the boycott of the classes by the teachers in order to prevent disruption of their academic activities. The teachers, on their part, have said that they would not teach until paid by the government for the extra duty they are required to perform.
