Rains predicted from Feb 5 to 8

The Baloch Hal News

QUETTA: Many parts of the country are likely to receive good winter rains and snowfall over the hills during February 5 to 8, 2010.

This was stated by Pakistan Meteorological Department in a forecast Wednesday.

It added that this weather system would help in alleviating emergency drought conditions in the country. A westerly weather system is expected to approach Balochistan on late evening of February 4 and after scattered rain in Balochistan it would extend to other parts of the country including Punjab and Islamabad, NWFP, Northern Areas, Kashmir and parts of Sindh.

Kashmir and northern Areas are expected to receive at time heavy rainfall/snowfall during the above period.

Winter rain during February is likely to remain better than that of previous months. The above rains would be very useful for Rabi crops and good for water resources.

During December and January rainfall remains below normal on country level which was around 50 percent below normal.

Meanwhile partly cloudy weather prevailed in the Valley today. Minimum temperature recorded here today was minus 1 Celsius and maximum 12 Celsius.

Partly cloudy to cloudy weather with chances of isolated rain/thunderstorm is expected to prevail during the coming 24 hours.
