All is set for PB-25 by- poll

QUETTA: Provincial Election Commissioner Mehboob Anwar said that preparation has been finalized for holding the by-polls on the vacant seat of PB-25, being held on 10 March.

Addressing a press conference at his office on Monday, he said that as many as 26 candidates filed the nomination papers while after the withdrawal of two candidates now 24 contestants are in the run.

He added that there was no law and order in the district Jaffarabad adding, on the directives of Election Commissioner of Pakistan, as a precautionary measure FC has been called in Jaffarabad to ensure the peaceful and transparent polls.

Giving the details of preparations he said that as many as 91 polling stations and 199 polling booths have been set up, of which 34 are combine while 30 are for males and 27 are for females.

Number of registered voters in PB-25 Jaffarabad zone figured 1,40,857 inĀ  which the male voters are 73,000 whereas 67,000 voters are female he said, adding 30 polling stations have been declared most sensitive.

Election Commissioner maintained that 489 polling personnels have been deployed in Jaffarabad assigning various duties.

Deputy Election commissioner Jaffarabad would be the Returning Officer while joint election commissioner will perform as district returning officer.

To a question, he said that in order to make the process transparent a team of NADRA is also being deployed on March 10 to avoid rigging and the use of fake National Identical Cards (NIC).

He however, asked the people to turn towards polling stations and use their right of franchise and cast their votes.
