BA summons PIA, Civil Aviation officials
QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly through a resolution demanded that Pakistan International Airline (PIA) should charge tariff from Quetta to Islamabad, Karachi and Turbat to Karachi in the line with other provinces. Speaker Muhammad Aslam Bhootani presided over the Monday session of the provincial assembly. Ministers including Maulana Abdul Wasey, Engineer Zamark Khan, Sardar Muhammad Aslam Bezinjo, Ainullah Shams, Mir Muhammad Asghar Rind, Jeay Parkash, Ms Rahila Durrani and MPAs Ali Madad Jatak and Dr Agha Irfan Karim moved the resolution which reads that this house recommend the provincial government to approach the federal government to make the PIA bound to slash its fares being charged from Quetta to Islamabad and Karachi and others.
It maintained that PIA is charging additional fares from commuters of Quetta and other cities of Balochistan who get facility from PIA to reach Islamabad, Karachi and other cities. It highlighted that distance from Karachi to Islamabad is 701 miles and Karachi to Quetta 370 miles but the PIA is charging Rs9770 as fare of Karachi-Quetta against Rs7580 as fare of Karachi-Islamabad. Therefore, it is demanded that PIA should slash the Quett-Islamabad, Quetta-Karach, and Turbat-Karachi fares in the line with other provinces.
The house unanimously adopted the resolution. With consultation of the house, Speaker Bhootani asked the Secretary Assembly to send notice to senior officials of the PIA and Civil Aviation Authority to present before the Balochistan Assembly on March 29 at 11am to present their stance and brief in this connection.
Later, the house was adjourned till March 25 at 11am.
