QUETTA: Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hairdri expressing grave concerns over the dilapidated conditions of hospitals and patients hailing from all parts of the province said that federal government and international donor countries should help out the needy patients of Balochistan.

Talking to reporters after the Standing Committee on Zakaat and Usher meeting here on Tuesday, he said that Balochistan inherited the backwardness which is yet to be removed.

He said that Queeta, being the provincial capital has the extra burden of patients as population from interior Sindh and large number of Afghanis rush to the hospitals for treatment.

He maintained that inadequate equipment and resources coerce the patients to opt treatment in private hospitals instead the government hospitals. Poor patients have to pay extra amount on various tests in the government hospitals besides paying for OPDs, he deplored adding Federal government should utilize this amount for the welfare of the hospitals and patients.

He said that on account of being out of reach and unaffordable many poor patients suffering from cancer, kidneys and heart diseases go back home unchecked and undiagnosed.
