BHC lawyer kidnapped in Quetta

QUETTA: Unknown persons kidnapped a lawyer of Balochistan High Court (BHC) on broad daylight on Doctor Bano road here on Friday.

According to sources, the lawyer Iftikhar-ul- Haq, was on his car along with his children to go to school when unknown person intercepted and whisked him away on gunpoint to undisclosed destination.

In the reaction of this incident, lawyers took out a protest rally led by previous former president of Supreme Court Bar Association, Ali Ahmed Kurd from the district court.

After marching in different parts of city, the protesters reached at Chief Minister’s Secretariat where the conducted protest demonstration demanding immediate release of kidnapped lawyer.

While addressing the protesters, Ali Ahmed Kurd appealed the government functionaries to recover the kidnapped lawyer immediately, otherwise, he warned, the lawyers would observe boycott as protest until the recovery of Iftikhar-ul-Haq.

DIG operations Quetta, Hamid Shikil had came and meet with the protesters and assured them of police efforts underway to ensure a safe recovery of the kidnapped lawyer. In response to assurances given by the DIG police, the lawyers seemed to be contended with the official version and dispersed in peacefully.
