QUETTA:  Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has said Balochistan’s is a purely political issue that needs a political solution. A lot of expectations are being attached to the upcoming constitutional package as it can lead to resolution of all outstanding issues if it manages to sort out the issue of provincial autonomy.

The chief minister ventilated these views in a high-level meeting which discussed the worsening state of law and order in Balochistan.

Around twenty people have been target killed in Pakistan’s largest province of Balochistan during the ongoing week.

The meeting was attended by provincial home minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri, chief secretary Balochistan Ahmed Baksh Lehri, inspector general Balochistan police Javid Shah Bukhari, home secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, finance secretary Rohail Baloch and all divisional commissioners and top police officials.

Stressing the need to take better measures for the improvement of the state of law and order, chief minister Raisani said all such efforts should be result-oriented and elements responsible for growing lawlessness and violation of the law must be arrested and punished so that the prevailing sense of insecurity among the citizens of Balochistan permanently ends.

The provincial chief executive expressed his deep concern over the cases of target killing, kidnapping for ransom and highway robberies. He ordered the police departments to adopt foolproof security measures to prevent such cases in different parts of Balochistan. He also appealed to the masses to cooperate with the police department in providing information about suspected people residing or moving in their respective areas.

The meeting also looked into the problems being faced by the policemen and it was decided that close-circuit cameras would be installed in all sensitive parts of Quetta city. The CM also issued orders for providing modern and sophisticated equipment to Balochistan Constabulary and police department.
