Lawyers’ boycott continues for sixth day
QUETTA, March 25: Lawyers boycotted courts on sixth consecutive day, took out a procession and staged a sit-in outside Balochistan Assembly on Thursday to protest against failure of police to get Iftikharul Haq Advocate freed from kidnappers.
Iftikharul Haq Advocate was kidnapped from Doctor Bano Road of provincial capital.
Lawyers took out a procession from the District and Session Court led by Vice President Supreme Court Bar Association Amanullah Kanrani that marched on different roads and changed into a sit-in outside Balochistan Assembly where the assembly’s session was going on.
They were also carrying placards and banners bearing different demands and shouting slogans for the immediate recovery of abductee.
Provincial Finance Minister Asim Kurd Gailo came met the protesting lawyers.
He assured them that government was taking all steps for the early recovery of Iftikharul Haq and assured them that this issue would also be raised on the floor of assembly.
However, lawyers said that government was not taking practical steps for the recovery of Iftikharu Haq as a week had passed but neither the kidnappers were arrested nor abductee was recovered.
General Secretary Balochistan Bar Association Ameenullah Kakar said that they would continue protest till recovery of Iftikharul Haq.
