SCB president questions powers of MPs Committee
QUETTA: The President of Supreme Court Bar Association, Qazi Mohammad Anwar, has said that the Constitutional Committee had no rights to make changes in articles of Constitution related appointments of judges, nevertheless, they are authorized to revive the 73’s constitution in original condition.
He made these views while responding to questions during the programme “Hal Awal” organized by Quetta Press Club on Friday.
He said, we have expressed reservations over the issue of appointment of judges and had suggested that only Chief Justice’s recommendation is fair enough for appointment of the judges, they should include two senior judges for recommendations. The same procedure should be fallowed in High Courts, he added.
He said that lawyers would not allow parliamentarians to appoint judges of superior courts because most of them sitting at upper parliament are feudals and landlords, they are unable to make appointment honestly or on merit.
