Zamrak, Wapda employees acquitted of corruption charges

QUETTA, March 25: An accountability court in Quetta acquitted the provincial minister and parliamentary leader of Awami National Party (ANP) in Balochistan Assembly Engineer Zamark Khan and two former employees of Wapda from the charges of corruption on Thursday.

According to prosecution, provincial minister for revenue Engineer Zamrak Khan and four other persons were accused of embezzlement of Rs 3.8 millions during their services in Wapda  in 2002.

Two accused persons Waqar Raza and Haifz Matiullah had deposited Rs 3.8 million under plea bargain.

Provincial minister Zamarak khan and two other accused Muhammad Iqbal and Manzoor Ali Sheik had pleaded that they were innocent therefore they may be acquitted from the charge.

The Judge of accountability court Muhammad Iqbal Shahwani announcing the verdict acquitted provincial minister, Muhammad Iqbal and Manzoor Ali Shiekh from the charge.

The workers of ANP distributed sweets and expressed their pleasure over the court decision.

Talking to the media, Engineer Zamrak Khan said that today’s decision had proved that judiciary was independent in the country.
