Lawyers’ protest continues against kidnapping of Ifthakar

QUETTA: Lawyers hailing from Balochistan Bar Association and High Court Bar staged a rally and held demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club on Tuesday, in protest against non-recovery of a senior kidnapped lawyer.

A senior lawyer of the Balochistan High Court, Iftikhar-ul-Haq, was whisked away by unidentified people on 19 March, when he was going to drop his children at school on Fatima Jinnah Road.

Lawyers took out a procession from District Court, marched in different parts of the city and held a demonstration before the Quetta Press Club

Protestors chanted slogans against the administration for their failure of maintaining law and order in the city.

While addressing the demonstrators, President of BBA, Baz Mohammad Kakar and President of High Court Bar Hadi Shakil have said that lawyers had been boycotting from courts proceeding for 20 long days but so far law enforcement agencies have not made any efforts to surface the lawyer Iftikhar-ul-Haq.

Lawyers announced that they would organize sit-in in front of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat today (Wednesday) and would further intensify their strike if safe & immediate recovery would not take place.

“Every one is suffering due to deteriorating law and order situation and police is seemed to be powerless to break chain of culprits,” Baaz Mohammad Kakar said.

Later, protesters were dispersed peacefully.
