People want education: Governor Magsi

QUETTA: Long distances and scattered population is the main hurdle in the development of Balochistan because this needs massive funds and against this government has very meager resources.

These views were expressed by Balochistan Governor Nawab Muhammad Zulfiqar Ali Magsi while answering question asked by participants of Pakistan Navy War Course who called on him here Friday.

He said this impression that Nawabs and Sardars of the province are hurdle in the way of development or education. He said people want education.

Provincial government was striving for development of education and literacy rate.

Nawab Magsi said that like other provinces Balochistan has also been suffering from negative impacts of economic crisis. He said we would welcome foreign investment in the province for development projects and all necessary facilities would be provided to them. He said it would take time to fully activate Gwadar Port as it needs infrastructure and Gwadar would be linked with other parts of the country and neighbouring countries by rail and road.

Referring to a question about promotion of tourism, Governor Magsi said that in view of peculiar traditions of the province, development of tourism in coastal areas is very difficult.
