Several ‘Q’ leaders resign over renaming issue
QUETTA: A large number of PML-Q Balochistan office-bearers have tendered resignations from their offices and party basic membership as a protest against party’s opposition to renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday provincial vice-president of PML Balochistan Malik Amanullah and others said they were resigning from the party because PML-Q did not support the renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They said it was the genuine demand of Pashtuns but PML rejected their demand.
Responding to a question, they dispelled the impression that they were joining PML-N and said that after thorough consultation they would decide their future course of action.
On the other hand, addressing a press conference General Secretary of PML-Q Balochistan chapter Arbab Muhammad Hashim Kasi said that party had cancelled memberships of provincial Vice-President Malik Amanullah and his associates for violating party discipline by supporting renaming of NWFP as Khyber Pashtunkhwa.
He said that office-bearers of party including Malik Amanullah, Naqeeb Tareen and Allahuddin Tareen did not follow the decision of central leadership.
He said that despite repeated warnings the dismissed members had held a press conference and issued statements in support of renaming of NWFP. “After violating party constitution, central leadership decided to oust them from party,” he added.
