Train passengers stage demonstration

QUETTA: Scores of passengers of train Jaffar Express staged demonstration here on Thursday in protest against non-functioning of air-condition system of AC bogies of the train during journey from Lahore to Quetta.

The protesting passengers raised slogans against the Railways administration for unavailability of Ac and other necessary facilities and poor condition of the train service.

They alleged that they had got their seats reserved in air-condition compartments of the Quetta bound Jaffar Express. They maintained that air-condition system of the train was out of order and at Lahore Railway Station, they informed the relevant officials to remove the fault in the AC system but they did not pay any attention to their complaint.

They said that although at Rohri Railway Station, few technicians tried to mend the fault, adding however, no fault could be removed and the AC system remained out of order till the train arrived Quetta Railway Station.

They blamed that due to negligence of relevant quarters in the Railways administration, they had to suffer a lot due to this uncomfortable journey.

They appealed to higher authorities of the government to intervene into the matter as to improve condition of the trains so that commuters could take a sigh of relief.
