Another school shuts down in Quetta due to terror threats

QUETTA: A government administered boys’ high school was closed down in Quetta after receiving threatening a letter here on Monday.
According to the school administration, a threatening letter was sent by post which did not carry the name of any organization. The letter threatened the teachers if school was not closed down, they would carry out attack. Government boys’ high school located on Brewery Road remained closed on Thursday following the threats of attack.

A senior official of Home and Tribal Affairs Department said a specific group was involved to create panic in Quetta city. “Two schools have received threatening letters in Quetta and the Home Department is well aware about the entire situation and taking appropriate measures to ease the situation,” said the top bureaucrat, adding that DIG operations, Commissioner Quetta and other concerned authorities were asked to provide adequate security to each and every school in Quetta.

He said the academic activities in two schools, Government Boys’ High School and Killi Sheikhan High School, would be re-opened tomorrow. He said the security personnel would be deployed today (Friday) at all schools in Quetta to look after the situation. “It  (threats) is not a big issue. It is intended to create terror in an easy way,” he added.
