ANP holds rally against target killings in Karachi

QUETTA: Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan chapter held a rally on Saturday in protest against the target killings of Pashtoons in Karachi. The protestors demanded that government should take immediate steps to end the target killings of innocent Pashtoons living in Karachi

Earlier, ANP took out a procession from Jinnah Road and after passing through different parts of the city held a protest demonstration in front of Quetta Press Club. The protestors chanted slogans against the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) who they alleged responsible for the killing of innocent Pashtoons in Karachi. They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with supporting their demands.

Addressing the protestors, Provincial Convener of ANP, Arbab Zahir Kasi said enemy of Pakistan had decided to eliminate the Pashtuns from Karachi and Hyderabad but this dream will never come true. “We believe in peace but an ethnic group is carrying out target killings of peaceful Pashtuns to compel them to pick up arms,” he said and alleged that the involved culprits are the agents of secret agencies and working on agenda to destabilizing the country. He appealed to the federal government to take strict measure against the involved group and prevent them to killing of Pashtuns.

Other leaders of ANP, Azghar Khan Achakzai and Abdul Malik Panezai severely criticized the MQM during their speech and said it was the responsibility of government to provide complete protection to the lives and properties of the Pashtuns living in Karachi.

The protestors demanded that government should take immediate steps to overcome the increasing incidents of target killings. They passed several resolutions including seeking ban on political activities of the MQM in the country declaring it as a terrorist organization. The protestors were peacefully dispersed at the end.
