Anti-polio drive kicks off in Chaman

CHAMAN: A three-day anti-polio campaign kicked off on Monday in Qila Abdullah district where the health department had  discovered at least two polio positive cases during the last one year.

In order to create awareness about the diseases among the people, the district health department also organized a walk which was participated by district officials and Provincial Minister Abdul Khaliq Achakzai.

Later talking to the media, the minister Abdul Khaliq Achakzai said that the district was at the border where the population straddling on both sides of the border frequently switches their residences making it difficult for the teams to immunize their children against polio.

District health officer said that more than one hundred and 43 thousands children would be administered polio vaccine during the campaign.
