Attempt to kidnap boy foiled
QUETTA: An enraged mob foiled an attempt to kidnap a teenage boy and overpowered the kidnapper, and gave him a good beating before handing him over to the police on Patel Road here on Friday.
Police officials said the boy was along with his sister and grandfather looking for auto-rickshaw on Patel Road when a masked man appeared and bundled away the teenager, identified as Parid Kumar, in to a small van.
Some people present at the crime scene blocked the road with vehicle parked against it as soon they heard the shouts from a female voice raising alarm over the hostage taking.
A large number of people gathered at the scene and started beating the kidnapper mercilessly for committing a crime against the humanity. The people tried to killing him by burning the accused alive. However security forces and police intervened promptly preventing the enraged mob to kill the accused by burning him alive.
The FC personnel had handed over the accused to the Quaidabad Police for prosecution and also for questioning ascertaining that who others were involved in the kidnapping for ransom cases in Quetta and elsewhere in Balochistan.
According to police, kidnaper was identified as Sunni Kumar, hailing from Hindu community.
Interestingly, the small carry van had no registration number plate at all and it was taking a round of the city during these hours and the police could not check it.
