Charges against CM rejected, termed “baseless”

QUETTA: An official statement issued here on Friday has refuted the contents of a news item published on the front page of a Karachi newspaper on May 28, 20910 wherein Mir Baz Khetran had been quoted as leveling serious allegations on the person of Chief Minister Baluchistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani.

The statement said there was not an iota of truth in the story because no such action was ever taken where the law enforcement agencies had bulldozed the house of the Mir Baz Khetran.

The actual story was that on April 30, 2010 a group of persons has attacked the driver and gunman of a former provincial minister – Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran – and after severely beating them up had snatched on gun point, the minister’s vehicle No PAE-321 (SSR Double Cabin). Accordingly the driver namely Ali Mohd lodged a case in the Police Station Rakhni u/s 395-324-34/PPC, nominating a eight persons including five family members of Mir Baz Khetran, one of them has brother namely Amir Mohd s/o Mian Khan caste Wagga.

Besides, in yet another FIR No. 18/2010, dated 2.04.2010 lodged in the same Police Station u/s 365 A-34 PPC, four persons were abducted by one Ahmed Nawaz s/o Yar Mohd, caste Mazarani, resident of Chappar Rakhni, a house in the vicinity of Mir Baz Khetran.

On May 1, 2010, the local police with the support of Baluchistan Constabulary conducted a raid to recover the four abducted persons from the house of one accused namely Ahmed Nawaz s/o Yar Mohd and also to recover the snatched vehicle from the possession of above mentioned accused persons. During the course of search operation some persons belonging to the same tribe had opened fire on the raiding party form atop the nearby mountains, however, no casualty took place nor any damage had been caused to any property as alleged by Mir Baz Khetran. The statement further said that the search operation continued until the four kidnapped persons were recovered safe and sound on May 3, 2010.

It is also a matter of satisfaction that different political parties and independent groups, including PPP, have very close and best working relations, the statement said and added “the tribal norms and tradition in Baluchistan do not allowed encroachment upon the sanctity and honour of any individual or a tribe nor any false or baseless allegations welcomed”. The statement said that before publishing any story involving personal allegation the contents must have been verified by the esteemed newspaper.
