Raisani demands release of allocations under NFC

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has said that Balochistan was the lifeline of the country and its rapid development would help boost the national economy tremendously. Nawab Raisani expressed these views while talking to Dr. Hafiz sheikh, Advisor to Finance Ministry and Salman Siddique, secretary Finance during a meeting here Saturday.

The Chief Minister said that once the roads and highways network were completed in Balochistan there would be a rapid trade and economic activities within the country as well as links with Iran, Afghanistan and beyond.

“I see a very bright future for Pakistan provided the rich natural resources available in Balochistan are exploited in a systematic and long-term basis and the infra-structure is developed in the province on war footings,” Nawab Raisani maintained.

Provincial ministers, Sardar Aslam Bizenjo; Babu Amin Umrani; Engineer Zamrak Khan and Senator Wali Muhammad Badini were also present during the meeting..

Nawab Aslam Raisani and Dr. Hafiz Sheikh exchanged views on the pace of development projects underway in the province, especially the conditions of national highways passing through Balochistan.

On the occasion Nawab Raisani invited the attention of the Advisor and the Ministry of Finance to the commitment of Rs. 4.25 billion made by the federal government for construction and improvement of national highways in Balochistan, which he reminded had not been released thereby causing unnecessary problems including law and order issues.

Dr. Hafiz sheikh directed the ministry for immediate release of Rs. 3.0 billion so that the work on on-going projects continued uninterrupted.

Nawab Aslam Raisani also demanded of the federal government to release in toto the provincial allocations to the Balochistan government decided in the 6th NFC Award, as the same had the constitutional guarantee.

The meeting also discussed in detail various options for generating more electricity in order to overcome the grave energy crisis the country was facing now-a-days. They also exchanged wind, thermal and solar energy potential that could be made available in Balochistan.

Dr. Hafiz Sheikh informed the meeting that soon he would visited along with his team to Balochistan to discuss and explore water, mineral and energy sectors.
