Raisani for more cooperation among LEAs
QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani, has said that information network of police force would be upgraded, which is essential to check activities of anti-social and criminal elements.
Chief Minister was on Thursday presiding over a high-level meeting to review law and order measures in the province. Provincial Home Minister, Mir Zafarullah Zehri; Chief Secretary, Mir Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri; Secretary Home; Provincial Police Officer; Commissioner Quetta; CCPO Quetta; DIGs of Special Branch, Investigation and Operations; DC Quetta and RPOs Khuzdar, Loralai, Sibi and Nasirabad regions attend the meeting. The meeting discussed threadbare the measures the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have taken to ensure safety and protection of life and property of common man.
Addressing the meeting Nawab Raisani said FC, Police and Levies were government agencies and were duty bound to work in unison and ensure maintaining law and order. “Particularly, the Special Branch, which is the eyes of the police department, had a very vital role in augmenting the pre-emptive measures. He said the close collaboration between law enforcement agencies would yield far reaching impact on the overall socio-political situation in Balochistan. “Evolving joint strategy with a coordinated action plan would definitely give positive results in checking the activities of such criminals,” Nawab Raisani maintained.
Chief Minister maintained that although the efforts of the LEAs were commendable in decreasing the crime rate in the province, however more actionable measures were still needed. Chief Minister also directed that the process of separation of levies from police and conversion of ‘A-area’ into ‘B-area’ must not slow down patrolling on highways and the personnel.
The meeting was informed that there had been positive headway in tracing the hideouts of certain elements involved in kidnapping for ransom during the course of interrogation of some culprits nabbed by the police. The meeting was informed that the anti-social and criminal elements possess sophisticated firepower, latest telecommunication and logistic facilities compared with the police and levies personnel.
Nawab Aslam Raisani directed that the police and levies department submit its requirements with realistic approach in order to meet them in the next fiscal year budget. The Chief Minister assured that the government would ensure provision of necessary arms, ammunition, vehicles and telecommunication equipments to law enforcement agencies making them more effective and strong to contain the anti-social and criminal elements.
