Raisani sees ‘foreign hand’ in threats to ICRC

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has said a “foreign hand” could be responsible for hurling threats to International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and other NGOs in Balochistan. Government would provide complete security to all international NGOs operating in the province by considering it as its its responsibility.

This was stated by the chief minister while speaking with newsmen after the adjournment of the provincial assembly session here on Friday.

Asked by the reporters what response the government had to offer after the issuance of threats by unknown people to ICRC by unknown persons due to which it had suspended its activities for the time being and shut its office, Raisani said said that government would provide security to all international institutions and NGOs which were working in Quetta and Balochistan

“No one should be frightened,” he said, “ One cannot rule out the possibility of the involvement of foreign hands in hurling threats to ICRC and other international institutions and NGOs.”

He asked NGOs and international institutions to continue their work without fear. Security at their offices had been enhanced, he added.
