QUETTA: A member of the apposition in Balochistan Assembly(BA), Pir Abdul Qadir Gilani, on Monday accused the Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhoothani of smuggling arms, explosive material and rocket launchers from Balochistan to Sindh.
He leveled these charges on Monday while talking on Point of Order during the Balochistan Assembly session here in absence of Speaker. Deputy Speaker Matiullah Agha chaired the session.
“A vehicle carrying arms, rocket launchers, and explosive materials was provided police protection in Lasbela district from the three police stations aiming to cross the Balochistan boarder to Karachi. The vehicle was intercepted by law enforcement agencies in Hub Township where they recovered the ammunition,” he accused and added, the police was informed that some guests of Speaker were traveling so that police squad should be provided.
“If it is not true then the speaker should clarify his position. Otherwise, he no longer holds the moral ground to stay on the esteemed officer,” he said.
Gilani, who is the son-in-law of former Balochistan chief minister Jam Mohammad Yousaf, asked for an inquiry and explanation from the the government side about the alleged arms transportation. He further claimed that the police vehicle, whihc remained missing for three days from the Hub Township, was in fact the same vehicle which was providing protection to the vehicle of Speaker’s guests.
However, members of cabinet Abdul Rehman Mengal, Sadiq Umerani and others denied the charges against Speaker Bhoothani and maintained that these were fake charges against the Speaker which were intended to defame Bhoothani.
Deputy Speaker asked Pir Gilani to move an adjournment motion in this regard. In response, Gilani walked out of the Balochistan Assembly in protest for his plea not being properly entertained by the provincial legislature.
