Supreme Court refers Levies force case to BHC again
QUETTA: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday, after setting aside the judgment of Balochistan High Court regarding dismissing a petition against the restoration of Levies Force Balochistan in the wake of legislation in Balochistan Assembly, remanded the petition to high court for hearing.
A division bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan comprising Justice Jawaid Iqbal and Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa heard the arguments of consuls for petitioners, the police officer Jamil Marri and others and set aside the judgment of BHC and remanded the petition to high court for hearing the petitioners. The bench also directed for issuance of notices to parties to appear before the high court on next hearing on Mar, 17 next.
Jamil Marri and others filed a petition in Balochistan High Court against the restoration of Levies Force Balochistan, curtailing police jurisdiction. A larger bench of BHC headed by Chief Justice Justice Qazi Faez Isa dismissed the petition for being ineffective due to legislation in Balochistan assembly for restoration of levies force.
