Two, including a doctor, shot dead in Quetta
QUETTA: Two persons, including a Pathologist of government Sandman Hospital Quetta, were gunned down in an incident of firing on Sirki Road here on Saturday.
Official sources said Dr Qamar Hussain was passing through on Sirki Road by car when unidentified persons ridding a motorcycle opened fire at his car. As a result of the firing, the doctor died on the spot and his friend Murtaza, who was traveling along with him, received bullet wounds. The attackers managed to flee from the scene.
Police reached the site soon after the incident and took the body of deceased and the injured to Sandman Hospital Quetta where injured later succumbed to his injuries.
“The victim received bullets wounds on upper torso which caused his instant dead,” hospital sources said. The victim was serving as pathologist at government Sandman Hospital Quetta.
Police termed the incident as case of target killing. The victim belonged to Punjab province but settled in Quetta for several decades. However a case has been registered against unknown persons and investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, spokesman of banned outfit Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) calling from undisclosed location claimed the responsibility of killing of doctor in Quetta.
According to official sources, target killings have claimed over 100 lives during the current year in Balochistan.
