QUETTA: Vice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) staged a protest demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club here on Wednesday, demanding the inclusion of a representative from Balochistan in the Judicial Commission which has been formed to trace out the missing persons.

Protesters, who mainly belonged to the families of those who have gone missing, were carrying placards and photos of their disappeared relatives. They chanted slogans against the government and the judiciary for their failure to resurface the missing people. The relatives of the missing persons also included women and children  who participated in the protest demonstration.

Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club, chairman of Vice for Baloch Missing Persons, Nasurullah Baloch, said that the government had constituted a judicial committee to trace the missing persons but the representative of Balochistan was called just two days earlier of meeting. Thus, we could not ensure our presence at the meeting because relatives of missing persons can not afford airline expense, he said.

He demanded that government should ensure the representation of VBMP, Human Rights Watch and Asian Human Rights in the judicial commission. “We were told that after consultation, representation would be given,” said Nasurallh adding “Our aim is to judge the sincerity of commission that if they have potential to take action against the heads of secret agencies who are presumably involved in this case.”

“Many committees had been formed during the past three years but they had  no courage to take the spy masters of the country to task,” he recalled.

He also expressed dissatisfaction on judicial commission saying it was formed to hold back the case and the independent judiciary has also failed to take any appropriate step towards missing people after its restoration.
