QUETTA: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has restricted the movement of staff in Balochistan owing to threats issued by a banned nationalist organization.

While addressing a news conference here on Friday, head of sub-delegation ICRC, Adrian Zimmermann, denied the statement in which it was reported that all offices of the Red Cross in the provincial capital were closed down after a threat call.

“The ICRC continues to work in Quetta but the activities have been restricted,” said Adrian adding that law enforcement agencies were making investigations into the matter, thus “we are not in position to comment about the significance of threat”

He said at the moment two foreign nationals were present inQuetta and they had been shifted to the elitist hotel of Quetta city for security measures. ICRC will remain active but movement would be restricted. Only one office of organization is functioning in Quetta at the moment.

A limited staff of the organization will always be available to carry on humanitarian work, he said adding the Red Cross since reopening of its office in 2004 in Quetta, had been extending maximum support for undertaking relief operation in the wake of natural disasters.

Sources said an unknown person had called the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office in Quetta two days ago who had  introduced himself as a member of a banned nationalist organization and objected to the organization’s discriminatory attitude with Baloch people The caller threatened to attack the organization’s offices with grenades and rockets.

Police officials said the caller used a satellite telephone and his location could not be determined yet, however investigating is underway.

It`s a pity that International Committe of Red Cross (ICRC) has
abandoned the idea of Geneva Convention and works under the
orders of the Security Forces of Pakistan in Occupied Baluchistan. It`s no secert that Pakistani forces have abducted thousends Balochs, men and women and thousands of Balochs have been displaced due to the intense bombardment of Pakistani forces.

One wonders if ICRC has turned as a profit earning NGO?
Panjabis discriminate Baluchs and ICRC, too, discriminate
    Baluchs.

I totally agree with Baloch Liberation United Front’s possition. Because the International including UN had not played a single role to Baloch atrocities.
Balochs will resist until Balochistan is free.
The International community must play its role and must hight light the Balochistan issue as thy speak for other issues.
Issue of Occupied Balochistan must be discussed in internationall forums.
Long Live Baloch nation and Baloch struggle.
