Balochistan Ministers Ask Imran Khan to Apologize Over “Derogatory Remarks”
QUETTA: Several ministers of Balochistan government hailing from different political parties have strongly condemned the recent remarks of Imran Khan, chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), about the Balochistan government in a press conference held in Karachi and asked the cricketer-turned-politician to apologize over what they billed as “offensive” comments about the elected governmnet of Balochistan.
Speaking on a point of order during the Balochistan Assembly session, Mir Asadullah Baloch, secretary general of Balochistan National Party (BNP- Awami) and the provincial minister for agriculture condemned the remarks of Imran Khan, in which the latter had criticized the Balochistan government, needed to be condmened in the strongest words. The minister said Mr. Khan had used offensive and uncivilized language against the Balochistan Assembly and the provincial government.
“We strongly condemned Khan’s remarks in which he demanded that the elected Balochistan Assembly should be dissolved and new elections should be held in the province,” he said.
Sheik Jaffar Khan Mandokhel, the parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Quaid-e-Azam) said the PTI chief had disrespected the people’s mandate by leveling “baseless” allegations on the Balochistan Assembly.
Opposition member Pir Abdul Qadir said Imran Khan was totally ignorant about the actual situation in Balochistan. “Imran is good with playing cricket but not politics,” he opined.
Balochistan’s Finance Minister Mir Asim Kurd also expressed deep displeasure over the allegations leveled by Imran Khan and asked for an urgent appeal from the PTI chief.
“If Imran does not apologize to the Balochistan government, he will be welcomed next time by the people of Balochistan at the airport with tomatoes, eggs and watermelon,” warned the finance minister, indicating at the insulting tactics used in Pakistani politics to unwelcome an opponent.
